Anna Näsström is an established choreographer and dancer based in Malmö while also working inter/nationally. She has a foundation in dance and performance with an education from the Stockholm University of the Arts and studies in New York. Her artistic practice takes place at the meeting point between dance, technology and anthropology and moves between different contexts, movement languages and dance cultures.
Her practice is informed by waves of club culture, transdisciplinarity and worldbuilding amongst other things.
As a choreographer or dancer, her work has been seen on stages such as Malmö Stadsteater, Dansens Hus Stockholm, Det Kongelige Teater Copenhagen or Sadler's Wells in London in performance productions, international tours, musicals and/or multimedia productions. She is also the artistic director of the choreographer duo Ongoing Realities (OR) together with colleague Johan Bandholtz, who create at the intersection between dance, innovation and digital technology.
During 2025 the work "You can make me hole again" will be further developed together with Beck Heiberg at Dansehallerne in Copenhagen and Warehouse9 in Vanlöse with a premiere in 2026. Ongoing Realities (OR) has an upcoming premiere this year for a digital work, moving mapping graphics together with A EYE, a new media duo from Lithuania.
Anna is also part of the incubator program STPLN Lab in Malmö 2025 and will show a new piece during Southern Sweden Design Days at STPLN. In addition, she is involved in mentoring programs for young dancers and community development and holds a BA degree in social anthropology with a direction towards political science and Global Politics of AI. Her commitment and experiences within various projects and contexts create a versatile and keen background in her artistic practice.
